Emma Gladden, a Sophomore at The Oakridge School, will be presenting her paper “Hey, You Look Like a Monster!” at the 2017 Frankenstein Colloquium

Emma Gladden, Class of 2019
Emma is a sophomore at The Oakridge School where she began as a bright eyed four year old. Writing has always been a passion of hers and lately she hopes to pursue a career as a journalist, criminal defense lawyer, forensic psychologist, or perhaps an advocate for the oxford coma (although she fully expects to change her mind in the next couple years). Emma is currently taking all honors and AP classes and also juggling multiple extracurricular activities. She is involved in softball, drumline, and musical theater. In fact, Emma will soon be performing as Mayzie in The Oakridge School’s production of Suessical the Musical. She adores singing and making music is her favorite pastime. Not only is she involved in her school’s honor choir but she also has reached region and state level choirs, excelled in solo and ensemble competitions, and enjoys helping out with the children’s choir at AHUMC. Emma also enjoys traveling. She has visited more states than she can count as well as Italy, Sweden, Norway, Canada, and Belize. Her favorite thing about traveling is seeing beautiful, new places and escaping the hot Texas summers that we all know and don’t love.

Emma will be presenting her paper “Hey, You Look Like a Monster!” during the third block in Session B, titled “Monsters, Mechanical Men, and the Other.” The session will take place on the upper floor of the Library at 1:15pm.
