Anandi Barker, a Sophomore at The Oakridge School, will be presenting her paper “The Shadows Behind the Light: The Lurking Dangers Behind Man's Advancement” at the 2017 Frankenstein Colloquium

Anandi Barker, Class of 2019
Anandi Barker is a sophomore at the Oakridge School, attending the school since fourth grade. She is an active participant in her school orchestra as well as the Fort Worth Youth Philharmonic Orchestra; she has played violin for four years and piano for six years. Anandi enjoys participating in the Oakridge Owls junior varsity softball team, and is looking forward to their new season.

Anandi’s favorite subject in school is history, motivating her to tackle the subject of the Enlightenment and its effect upon Mary Shelley’s novel. Her paper details the possible adverse effects of knowledge upon mankind, and, more particularly, their appearance and expression in Frankenstein. She looks forward to January 30th and the incredible opportunity that the colloquium has offered!

Anandi will be reading her paper “The Shadows Behind the Light…” during the 3rd block in Session C, titled “Frankenstein in the Context of the Enlightenment.”  The session will take place on the lower floor of the Library at 1:15pm.
